JCPC “Legacy of Trees” Celebrating Arbor Day – A Citywide Tree Planting Event 4/27/19
On Saturday, 4/27/19, in celebration of Arbor Day, the Jersey City Parks Coalition partnered with our Jersey City and Hudson County Park groups to plant 11 Great White Oak Trees across Jersey City. The Great White Oak trees are known to live up to 300 years! Thanks to our wonderful sponsor, Home Depot for their generous flowers seed packets and garden supplies which were used for our Family DIY Activities. Jersey City residents participated in nature inspired crafts to make their own flower seed balls using clay, potting soil & flower seeds. Students from the Learning Community Charter School (LCCS) and Jersey City Girl Scout Troop #12026 led DYI workshops in Pershing Field Park to make birdfeeders from recycled water and soda bottles. Local artist & photographer, Erin A. Delaney, signed copies of her latest coloring book, “Drawn From Life Backyard Bugs – Bees, Bugs, and Butterflies.” Thank you to all of our Tree Lover’s Crew volunteers who participated in this city wide tree planting event and the Jersey City Division of Parks and Forestry, who worked with us to ensure it’s success!
