This challenge is designed to encourage the collaborative aspect of Walk_Bye. It is FREE to enter the competition. The entrants are asked to make a collage, a drawing, a sculpture, a cut paper piece, or a maquette: whatever you want to describe your favorite activity to do at the park. The Open Call is to participate in Walk_Bye™ at the Jersey City Arts and Studio Tour. This year it will take place from October 1st through the 4th (article from last year: https://everythingjerseycity.com/jcast-2019-wrap-up/). Approved submissions will be printed on large (approximately 2 x 3 feet) vinyl posters, and hung in one of the 28 parks part of the Jersey City Parks Coalition. Founded in 2005, the Jersey City Parks Coalition is a private, not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization that assists in the development and maintenance of Jersey City’s parks and public spaces. The mission of the Jersey City Parks Coalition is to empower residents to develop, renovate, use and maintain their community parks and public spaces of Jersey City; thereby revitalizing neighborhoods and lifting communal and human spirits.
Submission counts as permission to reproduce for usage by Walk_Bye and its partners. Posters will be auctioned off at $100 per poster to raise funds for the Jersey City Parks Coalition at some point after JCAST ends. Artists retain ownership of intellectual property.
